Maintaining good health is essential to leading a fulfilling life, and for many of us, it can be a lifelong journey. As we age, our bodies undergo changes that can affect our physical and mental well-being. But, regardless of our age or current health status, it's never too late to take control of our health and make positive changes toward a healthier lifestyle.
My story is no different. I'm in my late 40's. Over the last eight years, I stopped taking caring for and looking after my body. I'm 5'2", and two weeks ago, I weighed in at over 200 lbs. This was a sobering number. It's something I feel a lot of shame over, but it is a part of my journey. I've struggled with weight gain, joint issues, brain fog, and mobility problems. I don't feel good, and I want to feel better. I want to reduce my health risks and improve symptoms of poor health. I'm about to be 48 next month, and I want to thrive in my old age. I want to be active and enjoy everything that life has to offer.
To start my journey towards regaining control of my health, I decided to rejoin Weight Watchers, a program that had helped me achieve success in the past. I know that losing weight isn't the only answer to good health, but it's a crucial step in the right direction. Following a healthy eating plan and tracking my food intake has been an excellent way for me to make smarter choices about what I eat. I'm down 4lbs thus far.
Incorporating regular exercise into my routine has been challenging, but I know it's essential to my overall health. I'm focusing on low-impact cardio and strength training exercises that can improve my joint health and increase overall mobility. I walked in place for 30 minutes and did a lot of walking during vacation.
One of the most significant benefits of focusing on my health has been improving my mental and emotional well-being. I've noticed that regular exercise has helped me to reduce stress, improve my mood, and boost my self-confidence. These benefits have been invaluable as I work towards regaining control of my health.
As I approach my 48th birthday, I'm excited about the future and how I can continue to improve my health and well-being. I know that it's not going to be an easy journey, but I'm committed to making sustainable lifestyle changes that will benefit me in the long term.
If you're on a similar journey towards regaining control of your health, remember that it's not about being perfect or achieving overnight success. It's about making small changes every day that can add up to significant improvements in your health over time. Don't be afraid to ask for help, whether it's from a doctor, a physical therapist, or a weight loss program like Weight Watchers, friends, and family. With dedication and commitment, you can achieve your health goals and thrive in your old age.
I will share my journey with you. I will share the strategies, tools, and recipes that are helping me reach my goal.
Love,
Viv
