Books to Read this Month: January the Month of Resolutions.

Updated: Jan 4, 2023

Welcome to the new year! With the start of January 2023, comes the inevitable New Year's resolutions. Whether it's to read more, eat healthier, or take up a new hobby, many of us strive to make positive changes in our lives. Unfortunately, sticking to these resolutions can be harder than we originally thought, and for many of us, our resolutions tend to fall by the wayside. To help you stick to your goals this year, here are two books to read for the month of January, as well as five tips to help you overcome the setbacks that come with making changes in your life.

The first book to read this month is You are a Badass by Jenn Sincero. This book was so inspiring I have it both in print and audio. In this book, Sincero draws on her own experiences to provide readers with the tools they need to create a life they love. She explains how to tap into your power to create a more fulfilling life, while also providing plenty of hilarious anecdotes and tips. Sincero is your no filter best friend. This book may be the one to give you the pep you need to continue moving forward.

The second book to read this month is Atomic Habits by James Clear. I read this book exactly a year ago and it has stuck around on my bookshelf. In this book, Clear explains how small changes can have a big impact on our lives, and how forming better habits can lead to long-term success. Clear provides readers with a four-step process for creating and maintaining habits, as well as an array of tips for keeping up with our goals. This book really helps create the action that is needed to be successful in our resolutions.

To help you stick to your resolutions this year, here are five tips on how to overcome setbacks:

  • Set realistic goals: When making resolutions, it's important to keep them realistic and achievable. This will help you stay on track and stay motivated.

  • Break up your goals: Breaking up big goals into smaller, more manageable chunks can help you stay on track.

  • Reward yourself: Celebrate small wins along the way. This will help keep you motivated and remind you of why you started in the first place.

  • Track your progress: Tracking your progress will help you stay accountable and motivated.

  • Seek help: If you’re struggling, don’t be afraid to reach out for help. Whether it’s a friend, family member, or a professional, having someone to support you can make a big difference.

I hope these tips, as well as these two recommended books, will help you stay on track with your resolutions this year. Good luck and happy reading!

Love,

Viv
